In English there are many examples of words which sound similar except for one sound. For example 'ship' and 'sheep'. Non-native speakers, in mispronouncing this one sound, may give the listener the idea that they are pronouncing a different word from the one intended.

Practise saying each pair of words and then click to hear how they should be pronounced. Listen carefully for the difference.
